**** Mech Commander 2
Mech Commander 2 is similar to Mech Warrior. Both games are set within the Battletech universe and have 3 dimensional graphics. Instead of piloting an individual mech, however, Mech Commander places you in charge of a squadron of mechs. The game is played on more of a tactical level like Starcraft, but without the element of gathering resources and constructing buildings. Instead, you are free to concentrate on the strategic elements of accomplishing a mission. As the campaign progresses, more types of mechs, weapons, and equipment become available. As your pilots gain experience, they are promoted in rank and gain additional special skills.

Another great aspect of this game is the mission generator. Like StarCraft, you can design your own maps and program your own missions. Because the game is 3 dimensional, the mission generator is much more difficult to use than the one in StarCraft, but the results can be visually stunning. The only weakness is the fact that the number of triggers and resulting actions available within the mission generator is very limited. Consequently, you do not have much room for imagination in designing a mission like you do with StarCraft.
